THE FOUR-ENGINE COMPARISON

2027 Silverado 1500 Engine Specs: Horsepower, Torque, Towing and Payload

The redesigned Silverado offers a turbocharged four-cylinder, two naturally aspirated gasoline V8s and an inline-six turbodiesel. All pair with a 10-speed automatic. Maximum towing and payload figures describe different qualifying configurations, not one truck with every maximum at once.

UNDER-LOAD PERFORMANCE

Four Engine Personalities, Not Just Four Sets of Numbers

Output figures tell only part of the story. Engine construction, fueling and the Silverado configuration you choose determine how each powertrain fits your workload and ownership routine.

Under the Hood

What Changes Under the Hood

Chevrolet 2.7L TurboMax turbocharged four-cylinder engine

2.7L TurboMax

Rated peak engine torque

455lb-ft

  • Updated hardware: Chevrolet revised the turbocharger and fuel-delivery hardware for 2027, alongside the move to a 10-speed automatic.
  • Daily response: Useful pulling power at city speeds makes TurboMax a practical starting point for commuting, material runs and routine bed loads.
  • Trailer decision: Start with your fully loaded trailer weight, then compare an eligible truck's actual tow and payload ratings rather than treating engine size as a capacity rating.
  • Buying tradeoff: Compare the cab, bed and package combinations you will actually use before paying for a different engine's capability.
Chevrolet 5.7L V8 gasoline engine

5.7L Gas V8

Rated peak engine torque

428lb-ft

  • Towing leadership: The highest-rated Silverado 1500 towing setup uses this engine, but a particular cab, drivetrain and trailering package are required.
  • V8 character: More rated horsepower than TurboMax does not mean more peak torque; compare driving response as well as the numbers.
  • Configuration tradeoff: Choosing 4WD or a different cab can change the available towing limit. The best trailer match may not be the highest-rated build.
  • Buyer fit: Begin here when gasoline fueling and substantial trailer use matter, then check the actual truck's ratings against your load.
Chevrolet 3.0L Duramax turbo-diesel engine

3.0L Duramax

Rated peak engine torque

495lb-ft

  • Highway focus: Compare the diesel when long trips and repeat loaded driving matter more than selecting the engine with the highest horsepower number.
  • Trailer setup: An eligible Crew Cab diesel with the Max Trailering Package is required for its published highest towing configuration.
  • Driving tradeoff: Diesel power delivery can suit sustained highway use, while the actual truck's weight and gearing still influence how it feels.
  • Vehicle match: Confirm the cab, drivetrain and trailer equipment that fit your routine; diesel availability is not identical in every trim and body style.
Illustrative Chevrolet 6.6-liter gasoline V8 engine photograph

6.6L Gas V8

Rated peak engine torque

501lb-ft

  • Highest rated output: This engine offers Silverado's strongest published horsepower and peak torque, but those engine ratings are not a trailer rating.
  • Flagship pairing: Evaluate the premium High Country or off-road-oriented ZR2 equipment you want alongside the engine, not independently of the truck.
  • Different towing role: Its maximum trailer rating is below the 5.7L V8's. More engine output does not override a truck's configuration limits.
  • Buyer fit: Choose this powertrain for its response and the specific High Country or ZR2 package you prefer, not for the highest advertised tow ceiling.

TRAILER REALITY CHECK

Match Your Trailer to a Silverado Configuration, Not Just an Engine

A 6.6L V8 has the most peak output, but the 5.7L V8 holds the top published tow rating. Once you know the trailer’s fully loaded weight, the next decisions are cab, drivetrain, available towing equipment and how much weight the truck must carry.

Weigh the trailer as loaded

Include the trailer, boat motor, fuel, water, coolers, camping equipment or job materials. An advertised dry weight is not your real departure weight.

Account for people and hitch weight

Passengers, cargo, accessories and conventional tongue weight consume payload. Start with the carrying-capacity label on the actual Silverado.

Verify the complete truck

Match engine, cab, bed, drivetrain, axle, hitch and the available Max Trailering Package against Chevrolet’s 2027 requirements.

FUEL ECONOMY AND OWNERSHIP

2027 Silverado 1500 MPG: Fuel Economy and Ownership by Engine

GM has released 2027 EPA-certified fuel-economy ratings for the new 5.7L and 6.6L V8s and the 3.0L Duramax. The enhanced TurboMax is awaiting certification. Use the configuration-specific ratings below alongside your expected miles, towing routine and ongoing costs.

2027 Silverado 1500 / Fuel & Maintenance Basics

TurboMax & Gas V8s
GasolineNo DEF required
3.0L Duramax Diesel
DieselDEF required

EPA ratings are now available for the 2027 V8s and Duramax. TurboMax certification remains pending. Compare the actual window sticker; off-road tires, drivetrains and towing can change fuel use.

Gasoline engines: TurboMax and both V8s avoid diesel exhaust fluid and diesel particulate-filter regeneration. Compare purchase price, expected annual mileage and your trailer needs before paying for output that rarely gets used.

Duramax diesel: Add diesel fuel price, DEF replenishment, particulate-filter operation and the diesel-specific maintenance schedule to your budget. The case for diesel grows stronger when highway use and sustained load demands are a regular part of the routine.

Chevrolet reports more than 900 miles of highway driving range for an eligible Duramax truck with the available approximately 34-gallon tank*. This is a manufacturer highway-range claim, not an EPA MPG estimate or a towing-range promise.

CHOOSE YOUR WORKLOAD

Which Silverado 1500 Engine Fits Your Everyday Driving and Weekend Plans?

Open the scenario that most closely resembles your routine. Each recommendation balances the engine’s strengths with the actual truck you need and explains when another powertrain deserves consideration.

Daily miles and versatile truck workHighway 4 commuting, supplies, home projects and smaller trailersStart with TurboMaxSee the decision factors
TurboMax is an effective first comparison when your truck spends more time commuting or carrying useful cargo than hauling a heavy trailer. Check the cab/bed that suits you and the label for available payload; a bigger engine is not an automatic advantage for daily utility.
Regular substantial towingA larger camper, equipment trailer or loaded boat with gasoline preferencePrioritize 5.7L V8See the decision factors
Begin with your trailer's real loaded weight. The 5.7L holds the highest published towing maximum, but the configuration that earns it uses a specific Double Cab 2WD and Max Trailering equipment. If you need a different cab or drivetrain, compare that truck's actual rating instead of relying on the headline number.
Long trips and diesel preferenceRepeat highway miles, touring and diesel ownership routineCompare 3.0L DuramaxSee the decision factors
Duramax merits a comparison when frequent highway travel and the diesel ownership routine fit your plans. Match its available cab and drivetrain to your needs, then compare it against a 5.7L gasoline truck with the same practical seating and trailer requirements.
Higher output or off-road flagshipHigh Country luxury or ZR2 capability, with strong engine responseConsider 6.6L V8See the decision factors
Start with the High Country or ZR2 equipment you want, then confirm the 6.6L-equipped configuration. Choose it for the higher-output powertrain paired with those features; the available towing rating still depends on the specific truck and does not exceed the 5.7L's maximum.

CHOOSE THE ACTUAL TRUCK

The Engine Decision Gets Easier After These Four Configuration Checks

The 2027 Silverado lineup uses seven trim families with distinct engines, cabs and equipment. Use these checkpoints to move from preferred powertrain to the truck you can actually order, buy, drive and tow with.

What Changed From the 2026 to the 2027 Silverado 1500?

The 2027 light-duty Silverado replaces the previous 5.3L and 6.2L V8 gasoline engines with sixth-generation 5.7L and 6.6L V8s. TurboMax moves from 310 to 350 hp and gets a 10-speed automatic in place of the former eight-speed. The 3.0L Duramax remains an available diesel. All four 2027 powertrains now use 10-speed automatics.

The redesign also introduces an updated seven-trim structure, standard 16.3-inch center and 12.2-inch driver displays and new available trailering technology. Shop the model year you actually want, and do not borrow 2026 towing or EPA figures for a 2027 truck. For a broader model-year explanation, see Chevrolet’s official 2027 Silverado overview.

Common Silverado 1500 Engine Questions

2027 Chevy Silverado 1500 Engine FAQs

What are the four engine options on the 2027 Silverado 1500?

The 2027 Chevy Silverado 1500 offers an enhanced 2.7L TurboMax, an all-new 5.7L gasoline V8, an all-new 6.6L gasoline V8 and a 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel. All four use a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Which 2027 Silverado engine can tow the most?

The 5.7L V8 has the highest published 2027 Silverado 1500 towing maximum: up to 13,700 pounds*. That requires a Double Cab Standard Bed 2WD with the available Max Trailering Package. Other configurations have lower ratings.

Is the 6.6L V8 more powerful than the 5.7L V8?

Yes. The 6.6L V8 produces 481 horsepower and 501 lb-ft of torque versus 402 horsepower and 428 lb-ft for the 5.7L V8. The 5.7L nevertheless achieves the higher maximum towing rating in its qualifying configuration.

Which Silverado 1500 trims can have the 6.6L V8?

The 2027 Silverado 1500 offers the 6.6L gasoline V8 in eligible High Country and ZR2 configurations. It is not a general option across the work and midrange trims.

Is the 2027 Silverado TurboMax a V6 or four-cylinder?

TurboMax is a turbocharged 2.7-liter gasoline four-cylinder. Chevrolet rates the enhanced 2027 engine at 350 horsepower and 455 lb-ft of torque, paired with a new 10-speed automatic.

Does the 3.0L Duramax Silverado need diesel exhaust fluid?

Yes. The Duramax 3.0L Turbo-Diesel uses diesel exhaust fluid as part of its emissions-control equipment and requires diesel-specific maintenance and particulate-filter regeneration. Follow the applicable owner information.

Are 2027 Silverado MPG figures the same as the 2026 model?

Not necessarily. GM has supplied EPA-certified 2027 ratings for the 5.7L and 6.6L V8s and the 3.0L Duramax; the enhanced TurboMax is still awaiting certification. Ratings vary by drivetrain and equipment, so compare the 2027 window sticker for the exact truck rather than relying on 2026 figures.

How do I verify the exact towing and payload ratings?

Check the 2027 model-year Chevrolet trailering information, the actual truck’s engine, cab, bed, drivetrain, axle and Max Trailering Package where needed. Read the door-jamb carrying-capacity label and account for passengers, cargo, hitch limits and trailer tongue weight.

Specifications, Capability & Fuel-Use Disclosures

* Qualified claims: The single asterisk on EPA MPG, towing, payload, illustrative trailer-loading, and highway-range statements refers to the applicable details below. Ratings, calculations, and range claims have different conditions and are not interchangeable.

Engine output: Horsepower and peak torque are Chevrolet-published 2027 Silverado 1500 engine ratings. The torque comparison bars show rated engine torque only, not vehicle acceleration, fuel economy, towing or payload performance. See Chevrolet's published powertrain specifications.

Maximum towing and payload: Chevrolet's published figures are for comparison only and belong to different qualifying configurations. Before buying or towing, review the Owner's Manual, vehicle-specific trailering information, hitch rating, and door-jamb carrying-capacity label. Passengers, cargo, options and accessories can reduce capacity. The maximum 5.7L V8 towing rating requires Silverado Double Cab Standard Bed 2WD with available Max Trailering Package; the 3.0L Duramax maximum requires Crew Cab Short Bed 4WD with available Max Trailering Package. Other maximum-tow configurations: TurboMax — Regular Cab Long Bed 2WD; 6.6L V8 — Crew Cab Short Bed or Standard Bed 4WD. Maximum payload is assessed separately: TurboMax — Regular Cab Standard Bed 2WD; 5.7L V8 — Regular Cab Long Bed 2WD; Duramax — Crew Cab Short Bed 2WD; 6.6L V8 — Crew Cab Short Bed ZR2 4WD. Always follow the lowest applicable vehicle, trailer and hitch limit. See Chevrolet's configuration-specific notes and our 2027 Silverado towing guide.

Tongue-weight example: The 7,000-pound trailer, 10%–15% planning range and 700–1,050-pound tongue-weight calculation are illustrative, not truck, trailer or hitch manufacturer ratings or loading instructions. Determine actual weights and requirements from the specific equipment and manufacturers' guidance.

EPA fuel-economy ratings: GM provided EPA-certified 2027 Silverado 1500 city, highway and combined MPG figures for the 5.7L V8, 6.6L V8 and 3.0L Duramax, as shown in the table. The enhanced TurboMax was not yet certified as of November 6, 2026. Ratings depend on the named drivetrain, tires, trim and other equipment, and actual fuel economy varies with driving conditions, load, weather and towing. Consult the EPA label on the specific vehicle; do not substitute 2026 ratings. Source: GM-supplied 2027 Silverado EPA ratings, reported November 3, 2026.

Highway range: The more-than-900-mile highway-range statement is a Chevrolet claim for an eligible 2027 Duramax Silverado with an available approximately 34-gallon fuel tank. Actual range depends on driving conditions, load, towing, terrain, temperature and equipment. It is not a promise of towing range. See Chevrolet's announcement.

† Trim availability: On Work Truck (WT), the 3.0L Duramax is available only with Crew Cab; it is not offered with WT Regular Cab or Double Cab. The 2027 Silverado LT (2WD) and Z71 (4WD) versions belong to the Silverado trim family. The availability matrix describes trim families, not guaranteed cab, bed, drivetrain, package, production or current dealer inventory combinations; confirm the current order guide and specific truck.

THE CONFIGURATION MAKES THE RATING Why Two Silverados With the Same Badge Can Tow Different Loads Chevrolet’s 2027 ratings make the truck-selection process more precise: the engine supplies power, but the cab, bed, drivetrain and equipment decide which official chart cell applies. Here are the four details to pin down. 4 powertrains TurboMax 2.7L, Duramax 3.0L diesel, new 5.7L V8 and new 6.6L V8 3 cab styles Regular, Double and Crew Cab vary in passenger room and maximum trailer weight 2WD / 4WD drivetrains The same engine/cab pairing can have different towing and payload figures NHT package code Max Trailering Package is required for the highest-rated 5.7L V8 and Duramax configurations The 13,700-lb maximum is a 5.7L V8 Double Cab Standard Bed 2WD with NHT. The 2,340-lb payload maximum is a TurboMax Regular Cab Standard Bed 2WD. Neither rating automatically carries over to a different Silverado. COUNT EVERYTHING IN THE TRUCK Payload and Tongue Weight: The Part of Towing You Still Carry 01 / LOADED TRAILER Measure the Hitch Load If a trailer weighs 8,000 lb when loaded and places 10% of that weight on its hitch, the truck carries roughly 800 lb of tongue load. That is an illustrative assumption, not the measured tongue weight of your trailer. Trailer geometry and loading can change it. 02 / PASSENGERS AND GEAR Subtract the Whole Load With an illustrative 800 lb of tongue weight, 450 lb of occupants and 300 lb of tools, the truck carries 1,550 lb before other installed equipment or cargo. Compare that sum with the specific truck’s carrying-capacity label—not only the brochure maximum. 03 / VEHICLE-SPECIFIC LIMITS Check More Than the Payload Sticker Confirm GVWR, front and rear GAWR, GCWR, trailer rating, hitch/receiver limits, tire ratings and Chevrolet’s towing instructions. The lowest applicable limit controls, especially if a boat or equipment trailer is loaded differently from day to day. FIND THE RIGHT ENGINE PATH Where the Silverado 1500’s Three Main Buying Priorities Split 5.7L V8: Put Towing First The new 5.7L V8 delivers the headline maximum with a Double Cab 2WD and NHT. A Crew Cab with NHT stays close when passenger space matters. This is the first comparison for large campers and heavier work trailers within the truck’s actual rating. TurboMax: Put Bed Payload First The lighter Regular Cab 2WD TurboMax leads Chevrolet’s published base payload values. For materials, equipment and supplies carried in the bed, check this build before paying for power you do not need. TurboMax towing still reaches 9,400 lb in a separate Long Bed build. Duramax: Balance Crew Cab and 4WD The 3.0L Duramax Crew Cab 4WD reaches 12,000 lb with NHT, making it a clear diesel alternative for loaded recreation or work trips. The 6.6L V8 takes a different path: stronger horsepower and torque, but Chevrolet lists up to 9,700 lb of towing on its Crew Cab 4WD builds. Bring Us the Trailer Weight. QUESTIONS ABOUT TRUCK CAPABILITY 2027 Chevy Silverado 1500 Towing and Payload FAQs What is the maximum towing capacity of the 2027 Chevy Silverado 1500? ▼ Up to 13,700 pounds when properly equipped. Chevrolet specifies a 5.7L V8 Double Cab Standard Bed 2WD with the available Max Trailering Package for that highest rating. What is the maximum payload of the 2027 Silverado 1500? ▼ Up to 2,340 pounds with a TurboMax Regular Cab Standard Bed 2WD. Check the carrying-capacity label on the exact Silverado because installed equipment and options affect payload. Which 2027 Silverado 1500 engine tows the most? ▼ The new 5.7L V8 leads at 13,700 pounds in a properly equipped Double Cab 2WD. The 6.6L V8 has more peak horsepower and torque, but its maximum published tow rating is 9,700 pounds. How much can a 2027 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab tow? ▼ With a 5.7L V8 and the Max Trailering Package, Crew Cab towing reaches up to 13,600 pounds in 2WD or 13,500 pounds in 4WD. The available engine, bed and equipment must match the chart. How much can the 2027 Silverado Duramax diesel tow? ▼ Up to 12,000 pounds in a Crew Cab Short Bed 4WD with the available Max Trailering Package. Chevrolet lists 10,000 pounds for the diesel Crew Cab 2WD configuration in its published chart. Do I need the Max Trailering Package for a 2027 Silverado? ▼ It depends on the rating you are targeting. For 2027, the Max Trailering Package (RPO NHT) is listed only for the Silverado trim with order code 1LT, with an eligible 5.7L V8 or 3.0L Duramax. It is required for the highest 5.7L V8 Double Cab and Crew Cab towing figures and the 12,000-pound Duramax Crew Cab 4WD figure. Confirm the package and all other requirements on the actual truck. Does trailer tongue weight reduce available Silverado payload? ▼ Yes. Tongue weight is carried by the truck along with passengers, cargo and accessories. Measure the loaded trailer and check payload, hitch, axle and vehicle weight limits before towing. Where can I compare Silverado towing configurations near Pittsburg? ▼ At Delta Chevrolet in Pittsburg, California, we can help you compare available Silverado vehicles, installed trailering equipment and the published Chevrolet ratings. Bring the trailer’s loaded weight and your expected passenger and cargo load. YOUR NEXT STEP Choose Your Silverado. Verify Its Real Capacity. Other cab, bed, 2WD/4WD, trim, engine, wheel/tire, equipment and option combinations can carry lower ratings. WT, Custom, LT, Z71, Custom Trail Boss, Trail Boss, High Country and ZR2. LT and Z71 belong to the same midrange Silverado family, with LT representing 2WD and Z71 representing 4WD. Which Silverado has the lowest starting MSRP? WT (Work Truck), starting at $41,395 including Chevrolet's $2,795 destination charge. That price is for the entry configuration; cab, bed, drivetrain, engine and optional equipment can change the price. What is the difference between LT and Z71? LT is the two-wheel-drive version of the midrange Silverado; Z71 is its four-wheel-drive counterpart, with standard Z71 off-road equipment such as skid plates, hill descent control and off-road suspension. Which Silverado trims have a factory-installed two-inch lift? Custom Trail Boss, Trail Boss and ZR2. ZR2 goes further with Multimatic DSSV dampers, additional off-road hardware and 35-inch mud-terrain tires. What engines are offered on the 2027 Silverado 1500? Four engines are offered across the lineup: a 2.7L TurboMax, a 5.7L V8, a 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel and a 6.6L V8. Engine availability depends on the trim and configuration; the 6.6L V8 is reserved for High Country and ZR2. Which Silverado is the luxury choice, and which is the off-road flagship? High Country emphasizes premium cabin materials, comfort and advanced technology. ZR2 emphasizes more demanding off-road driving, with specialized suspension, tires and trail equipment. How much can the 2027 Silverado 1500 tow? Up to 13,700 pounds when properly equipped with the 5.7L V8, Double Cab, Standard Bed, two-wheel drive and available Max Trailering Package. Other combinations have different ratings; verify the specific truck's equipment and capacity before towing. JUMP TO THE SECTION YOU NEED Shared Features Compare Trims Features By Trim Lifestyle Match A Strong Starting Point What Every 2027 Silverado 1500 Has in Common From WT to ZR2, every Silverado starts with the next-generation truck's new design, expansive digital displays and practical features that make a full-size pickup easier to live with. Every 2027 Silverado 1500 wears Chevrolet's redesigned truck styling, including standard LED headlamps and taillamps. More importantly, the lineup starts with genuinely useful pickup equipment: a standard trailer hitch and integrated trailer brake controller. You do not need a luxury or dedicated off-road trim to get the fundamental tools for connecting a trailer, although actual towing capacity varies substantially by engine, cab, bed and equipment. The redesigned cabin brings a major technology upgrade to every trim. A 16.3-inch center touchscreen and 12.2-inch Driver Information Center are standard, with the new infotainment interface integrating Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Google built-in functionality. Even the WT benefits from the same expansive display layout, so choosing a higher trim is not necessary just to get the Silverado's modern dashboard. Every engine also pairs with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Standard driver-assistance equipment adds another layer of everyday usefulness. Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, front and rear parking sensors, and rear cross-traffic braking are included across the lineup. That gives Silverado shoppers a substantial foundation for commuting, maneuvering and hauling. The decisions ahead are about the equipment that changes how your particular truck works: cab and bed configuration, engine, drivetrain, trail capability and added comfort. Reorganized Trim Lineup Chevrolet groups the truck into seven trim families, with eight trim levels overall, eliminating the separate RST and LTZ names. Three Factory-Lifted Choices Custom Trail Boss, Trail Boss and ZR2 each feature a 2-inch factory lift. ZR2 adds 35-inch mud-terrain tires and more specialized chassis hardware for demanding off-road travel. Shortlist Takeaway The redesign brings meaningful changes to engines, technology and trim organization. For an apples-to-apples comparison, first separate the midrange LT/Z71 drivetrain choice from the three dedicated lifted models. Comparison Topic 2 of 7 How the Eight Selections Are Positioned PRICING & LINEUP ROLES PRICING & LINEUP ROLES WT $41,395 starting MSRP* The work-focused entry point, with the broadest cab selection. Custom $46,395 starting MSRP* An approachable everyday pickup with more exterior and convenience equipment. LT (2WD) $50,695 starting MSRP* The midrange Silverado configuration for shoppers who prefer two-wheel drive. Z71 (4WD) $54,295 starting MSRP* The midrange four-wheel-drive configuration, with the Z71 Off-Road Package standard. Custom Trail Boss $57,195 starting MSRP* The lower-priced entrance to the factory-lifted off-road family. Trail Boss $63,995 starting MSRP* Factory-lifted capability with upgraded cabin design and convenience features. High Country $74,495 starting MSRP* Luxury and advanced driver assistance take priority over extreme off-road hardware. ZR2 $79,995 starting MSRP* The specialized off-road flagship with 35-inch tires and locking differentials. Shortlist Takeaway These starting MSRPs include the $2,795 destination charge and reflect the lowest-priced configuration of each selection. Compare the same cab, bed and drivetrain before deciding what a trim upgrade costs: a higher trim may start with a different configuration. Comparison Topic 3 of 7 Which Cab and Bed Combinations Fit Your Plans? CAB & BED CHOICES CAB & BED CHOICES WT Regular Cab: Standard or long bed, with 2WD or 4WD. Double Cab: Standard bed; Crew Cab: Short or standard bed. Custom Double Cab: Standard bed. Crew Cab: Short or standard bed, depending on drivetrain. LT (2WD) Double Cab standard bed or Crew Cab short bed. The midrange 2WD configurations preserve a less expensive choice before moving into 4WD. Z71 (4WD) Double Cab standard bed or Crew Cab short/standard bed. These configurations pair midrange comfort with standard Z71 equipment. Custom Trail Boss & Trail Boss Crew Cab with short or standard bed. The factory-lifted pair focuses on passenger space plus off-road capability. High Country Crew Cab short bed: 2WD or 4WD; Crew Cab standard bed: 4WD. The flagship is designed around Crew Cab ownership. ZR2 Crew Cab short bed, 4WD only. The most specialized off-road setup has the least body-configuration flexibility. Shortlist Takeaway Decide whether a Regular Cab, a Double Cab or a Crew Cab fits your passengers and cargo before comparing premium or off-road features. The available cab/bed combinations narrow substantially as you reach Trail Boss, High Country and ZR2. Comparison Topic 4 of 7 Four Engines With Different Strengths POWERTRAIN & DRIVETRAIN POWERTRAIN & DRIVETRAIN 2.7L TurboMax 350 hp / 455 lb.-ft. of torque with a 10-speed automatic. An enhanced standard-engine option across much of the lineup; check engine and delivery timing on the exact configuration. 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel 305 hp / 495 lb.-ft. Available in eligible WT, LT, Z71, Custom Trail Boss, Trail Boss and High Country configurations; standard on ZR2. Not available with the WT Regular Cab. 5.7L V8 402 hp / 428 lb.-ft. Available on appropriately equipped WT, LT, Z71, Custom Trail Boss and Trail Boss; standard on High Country. Not offered on Custom or ZR2. 6.6L V8 481 hp / 501 lb.-ft. Available on High Country and ZR2 only. The highest horsepower choice is not the same configuration that earns the maximum tow rating. 2WD vs. 4WD LT is the 2WD midrange choice; Z71 is the 4WD midrange choice. WT, Custom and High Country offer both drive types on eligible configurations; Custom Trail Boss, Trail Boss and ZR2 are 4WD-only. Shortlist Takeaway Choose the engine by actual load, towing frequency, fuel preference and cab/drivetrain configuration. Horsepower alone does not determine which Silverado can carry or pull the most. Comparison Topic 5 of 7 Where Cabin Comfort and Appearance Step Up COMFORT & MATERIALS COMFORT & MATERIALS WT Easy-to-maintain, work-oriented interior. Prioritizes durability and practical controls over luxury trim. Custom 20-inch Technical Gray wheels, dual exhaust and power driver-seat adjustment. A stronger visual and convenience step without moving into the premium cabin tier. LT & Z71 Heated front seats and steering wheel, ambient lighting and a power sliding rear window. A noticeable comfort step for daily driving; Z71 adds its separate chassis/4WD identity. Custom Trail Boss Rugged exterior and off-road-focused finish. A factory-lifted truck, not simply the next interior-luxury step beyond Z71. Trail Boss Front bucket seats with the Multi-Flex center console, unique interior themes and Bose eight-speaker audio. Adds a stronger cabin identity alongside the factory lift. High Country Standard panoramic sunroof, real-wood accents, premium interior materials and 22-inch wheels. Refined finishes and Adaptive Ride Control support a different ownership priority than the lifted trims. ZR2 Unique red-accented interior, forged-carbon trim and standard front-seat massage. Premium appointments appear here, but its core identity is high-capability off-road driving rather than High Country-style luxury. Shortlist Takeaway The ladder is not linear: Custom Trail Boss emphasizes lift and traction, while LT/Z71 focuses on everyday comfort; High Country and ZR2 both add premium features but serve different priorities. Comparison Topic 6 of 7 Which Trims Add the Most Helpful Technology? TECHNOLOGY & DRIVER SUPPORT TECHNOLOGY & DRIVER SUPPORT Standard Digital Foundation The main dashboard displays are already standard on WT. Higher trims distinguish themselves through additional screens, driver-assistance features and specialized camera equipment. LT / Z71 & Trail Boss Super Cruise available with the proper package. Check the exact truck, the required service plan and compatible-road limitations; availability is not the same as standard equipment. High Country & ZR2 Super Cruise standard with an included three-year eligible plan. 11.5-inch passenger screen, head-up display and Rear Camera Mirror standard. Cabin Glance interior camera standard. Cabin Glance Available across the 2027 lineup. Displays a live view of the second row; standard equipment status varies by trim. Trailering & Camera Technology Available Hitch View, specialized trailer-support tools and multiple camera views. The available camera setup can reach 19 views on Trail Boss and ZR2; equipment is configuration-dependent. Shortlist Takeaway A luxury or off-road badge is not required for the main screens. The bigger technology break comes with standard Super Cruise, the passenger display and additional cameras on High Country and ZR2. Comparison Topic 7 of 7 Capability Depends on the Whole Truck TOWING & OFF-ROAD TOWING & OFF-ROAD Maximum Trailer Rating Up to 13,700 lb.* requires a Silverado Double Cab, standard bed, 2WD, 5.7L V8 and available Max Trailering Package. This is a specific setup, not the rating of every V8 Silverado. Diesel Towing Up to 12,000 lb.* requires a Crew Cab short bed, 4WD, 3.0L Duramax and available Max Trailering Package. Payload Context Up to 2,340 lb.* with a WT Regular Cab standard bed, 2WD and TurboMax. Payload and towing maximums are separate measurements. Z71 (4WD) Standard Z71 Off-Road Package: skid plates, hill-descent control and off-road-tuned suspension. This is the midrange 4WD path, not a factory-lifted Trail Boss. Custom Trail Boss & Trail Boss 2-inch factory lift and 34-inch mud-terrain tires. Both provide a dedicated lifted setup; Trail Boss adds additional comfort and technology content. ZR2 2-inch factory lift, 35-inch mud-terrain tires, front and rear electronic lockers and Multimatic DSSV dampers. Specialized trail hardware differentiates it from the other lifted trims. Trailer Assistance Available camera views, Boat Ramp Assist and Trailer Brake Gain Assistant can help in specific trailering situations. Feature availability depends on the chosen truck and equipment. Shortlist Takeaway The maximum tow rating belongs to a specific Double Cab 2WD/V8 configuration, while the most dedicated off-road hardware belongs to ZR2. Start with your actual trailer weight, payload and terrain requirements, then validate the truck’s door-jamb label and trailering documentation. Important: The Duramax is not offered in the WT Regular Cab. Best Fit Drivers who prioritize cab and bed flexibility, utility and cost control over exterior or cabin upgrades. Why Choose WT WT keeps the widest choice of pickup body configurations while including the new Silverado digital cockpit. Real-World Analysis: The Right Foundation for Trucks That Work First WT is at its strongest when the bed, cab layout and operating practicality matter more than appearance packages. It gives work-focused shoppers room to specify the truck around the assignment instead of buying a preset luxury level. For a maintenance crew, contractor or property owner, choosing a Regular Cab and the appropriate bed can make more difference than upgrading the upholstery. WT also works as a straightforward personal pickup for anyone who values carrying capacity and easy-to-maintain surfaces. The large standard screens help keep navigation and vehicle information readily accessible, so choosing the entry trim does not mean giving up the new Silverado cockpit. Its real advantage is flexibility: shoppers can prioritize different cab, bed and eligible powertrain combinations. Those decisions still require care. The diesel is not available on WT Regular Cab, and moving to a larger cab or a different engine changes the price and the truck's practical limits. Compare the configuration you will actually use for work, passengers or trailers. Decision boundary: Move to Custom if a power driver seat, easier tailgate operation and built-in bed or trailer conveniences will pay off regularly. Stay with WT when a Regular Cab, longer bed or eligible V8/diesel setup matters more than Custom's appearance and comfort upgrades. Starting MSRP*: $46,395 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Custom trim details Starting MSRP* $46,395 MSRP Price Relationship* +$5,000 vs WT Starting MSRPs use different body configurations: Custom begins as a Double Cab, while WT begins as a Regular Cab. Step-Up Features Changes From WT Moves out of the WT-only Regular Cab choice; offered as Double Cab or Crew Cab. Retains the TurboMax/10-speed pairing as its engine choice; the WT engine upgrades do not carry into Custom. Step-Up Exterior & Utility 20-inch Technical Gray machine-faced wheels and dual exhaust. EZ Lift and Lower tailgate and hitch guidance with Hitch View. 120-volt interior and bed-mounted outlets. Driver Convenience Power-adjustable driver seat. 2WD or 4WD, depending on configuration; Double Cab and Crew Cab bodies. Best Fit Shoppers who want a more finished-looking everyday truck and built-in utility conveniences without prioritizing a V8, diesel or luxury cabin. Why Choose Custom Custom makes sense when a pickup serves as an everyday vehicle and the extra convenience features will be used regularly. Real-World Analysis: Workday Utility With More Everyday Ease Custom is the useful middle ground for buyers who want a pickup to do truck things throughout the week, but also expect it to feel presentable and convenient on ordinary drives. Its advantages become obvious in repeat tasks. A lift-and-lower tailgate makes loading and unloading less of a chore; an available-use bed outlet adds flexibility for tools or campsite gear; and Hitch View can reduce the back-and-forth when lining up a trailer. The power-adjustable driver seat is valuable because it improves everyday fit, not because it sounds impressive on a specification sheet. The tradeoff is that Custom is a more defined package than WT. It does not offer the Regular Cab or WT's available V8/diesel paths. For drivers who tow occasionally, haul home-improvement supplies and commute in the same truck, that may be a sensible exchange. For a buyer whose livelihood depends on a particular bed, engine or cab combination, it may not be. Decision boundary: Compare LT when heated seating, a heated steering wheel and expanded engine choice would improve the truck's everyday role. Choose Custom when its practical utility upgrades deliver enough benefit without moving into the midrange comfort tier. Step-Up Features Step-Up Comfort Heated front seats and a heated steering wheel. Rear power-sliding window with defogger. Ambient interior lighting. Midrange Configuration Double Cab Standard Bed or Crew Cab Short Bed in 2WD configuration. Available 5.7L V8 or 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel on eligible builds, in addition to TurboMax. Available Technology Super Cruise hands-free driver assistance with the correct vehicle equipment and active service plan. Panoramic sunroof and additional cabin upgrades available on eligible configurations. Best Fit Drivers who want daily comfort and stronger engine choice but do not need standard 4WD or factory-lifted off-road hardware. Why Choose LT LT places heated front-seat comfort and more flexible engine choice ahead of aggressive off-road equipment. Real-World Analysis: The Silverado for More Miles on Pavement LT makes the strongest case for drivers whose truck is also their primary daily vehicle. It adds comfort you notice repeatedly, while keeping practical bed use, towing needs and additional engine choices in the conversation. The heated front seats and steering wheel are more than occasional treats when you climb aboard early, travel often or spend long periods in the cab. The rear sliding window, cabin lighting and available technology further support an easier daily routine. LT is a natural starting point for someone who carries passengers, commutes regularly and still needs the versatility of a half-ton pickup. Its other strength is choice: eligible buyers can explore the V8 or Duramax diesel instead of being restricted to Custom's standard engine. But LT is the 2WD midrange selection, not an all-terrain substitute. A different engine should be chosen around the actual trailer, payload and travel pattern rather than horsepower alone. Decision boundary: Compare Z71 when 4WD traction, protective hardware and off-pavement use are recurring needs. If most miles stay on paved roads and you value cabin comfort more than trail equipment, LT may be the more proportionate purchase. Shop Silverado LT Inventory View Silverado 1500 results filtered to this trim. Availability may vary. Trim 4 of 8 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Z71 Midrange comfort with standard 4WD and useful off-pavement equipment. Starting MSRP*: $54,295 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Z71 trim details Starting MSRP* $54,295 MSRP Price Relationship* +$3,600 vs LT Both begin as Double Cab Standard Bed; Z71 adds standard 4WD and its off-road equipment. Step-Up Features Changes From LT Moves to the midrange 4WD configuration. Adds the Z71 Off-Road Package as standard rather than representing a separate full-size truck model. Standard Z71 Capability Off-road suspension tuning and protective skid plates. Hill-descent control and added four-wheel-drive trail confidence. Remains a non-lifted Silverado, unlike the two Trail Boss variants. Powertrain & Comfort TurboMax standard, with available 5.7L V8 and 3.0L Duramax on eligible configurations. Heated front seats/steering wheel and midrange convenience equipment. Available Super Cruise with compatible package and service. Best Fit Drivers who want more traction and moderate-trail protection while keeping ordinary pickup ride height and midrange cabin comfort. Why Choose Z71 Z71 is the first place to look when you want 4WD and practical off-road equipment without a factory lift. Real-World Analysis: The Versatile 4WD Choice Without a Lift Z71 gives the midrange Silverado a useful capability advantage without changing its basic mission into that of a dedicated lifted trail truck. It is the balanced choice for people who spend most of their time on roads but regularly have to leave them. Four-wheel drive, skid plates, off-road suspension tuning and hill-descent control become meaningful when access roads are loose, rutted or steep. That can matter at rural properties, rough jobsite entrances or unpaved approaches to recreation areas. Just as importantly, Z71 keeps the familiar non-lifted pickup stance, so buyers are not taking on extra ride height and aggressive tires simply to handle occasional rough ground. Z71 remains a comfortable truck first, which is its real appeal. A driver who wants the LT-type cabin but needs 4WD can choose it without jumping to the more specialized Trail Boss branch. Its price comparison also needs context: the baseline LT is 2WD, and matching cab configurations matters when shopping actual trucks. Decision boundary: Custom Trail Boss adds a factory lift, larger mud-terrain tires and low-range gearing for more demanding off-pavement routes, but it is not automatically a cabin upgrade. The close Crew Cab 4WD starting prices make equipment priorities more decisive than the dollar gap alone. Shop Silverado Z71 Inventory View Silverado 1500 results filtered to this trim. In Crew Cab Short Bed 4WD form, Custom Trail Boss starts just $200 above Z71 ($56,995). Step-Up Features Changes From Z71 Switches from a midrange comfort/technology focus to a more rugged appearance and dedicated lifted suspension. Not all LT/Z71 comfort or optional Super Cruise content carries into Custom Trail Boss. Factory-Lifted Hardware Two-inch factory suspension lift with monotube shocks. 34-inch mud-terrain tires on 18-inch Dark Android aluminum wheels. Two-speed transfer case, skid plates and red front recovery hooks. Configuration & Engines Crew Cab Short Bed or Crew Cab Standard Bed, 4WD only. TurboMax standard, with available Duramax 3.0L or 5.7L V8. Best Fit Owners whose routes regularly call for extra ground clearance, dedicated tire traction and low-range gearing, but who do not need Trail Boss interior upgrades. Why Choose Custom Trail Boss Custom Trail Boss buys trail hardware first, before loading the cabin with higher-trim amenities. Real-World Analysis: Factory Trail Hardware Without Paying for Extra Luxury Custom Trail Boss excels for owners who will use the added clearance, tire grip and low-range capability often enough to justify making them the truck's defining features. It puts rugged hardware ahead of a highly appointed interior. The factory two-inch lift helps with uneven terrain and breakover clearance, while the mud-terrain tires and two-speed transfer case address traction and controlled movement where ordinary road-oriented trucks have less margin. The practical gain is confidence and usable equipment on rougher tracks, not simply a tougher look in the driveway. A Crew Cab also gives passengers and gear a more flexible place to ride between outings. That specialization affects daily life as well. Aggressive tires and a taller stance can be less appealing on long highway commutes or when stepping in and out frequently. And moving from Z71 to Custom Trail Boss changes the cabin/equipment mix rather than carrying every comfort and assistance option forward. Buyers who do not regularly need the lift should not treat it as an automatic upgrade. Decision boundary: Compare Trail Boss when you want the same broad factory-lifted purpose with a more refined front-row experience and premium audio. Custom Trail Boss is the compelling starting point when the off-road hardware is what earns the purchase. Shop Silverado Custom Trail Boss Inventory View Silverado 1500 results filtered to this trim. Distinctive seating materials, ambient lighting and flat-bottom steering wheel. Distinctive Exterior & Trail Feel Dedicated off-road hood with prominent power dome. 34-inch mud-terrain tires, factory two-inch lift and trail-oriented chassis remain the identity. Technology & Engines Available Super Cruise driver assistance and up to 19 camera views with qualifying equipment. TurboMax standard; Duramax and 5.7L V8 available on eligible builds. Best Fit Shoppers who regularly need lifted-truck capability but also want a more enjoyable front-row cabin and audio experience. Why Choose Trail Boss Trail Boss makes the most sense when you want the lifted hardware and the more inviting day-to-day cabin. Real-World Analysis: A Trail-Ready Truck You Also Enjoy Driving Every Day Trail Boss suits buyers who want to keep the factory-lifted identity but spend enough time in the cab to appreciate meaningful comfort and technology upgrades. It bridges regular trail use and a better-equipped daily-driving experience. The lift, mud-terrain tires and off-road chassis remain central, so the truck is still selected for access to rougher routes. What improves is the time spent getting there and coming home: front bucket seats, a more versatile center console and Bose audio make commuting, longer drives and passenger trips more rewarding. Those conveniences are especially worthwhile when the truck serves as both a recreation vehicle and the household's main pickup. Trail Boss is not simply Custom Trail Boss with a larger price tag and more horsepower. Its value lies primarily in the more complete cabin and available technology while retaining the trail-focused hardware. Optional Super Cruise may further help on compatible highways when properly equipped, but it does not replace driver attention. Drivers who rarely use the off-road parts should weigh whether a road-focused trim would serve them better. Decision boundary: Choose Custom Trail Boss when the lift, tires and four-wheel-drive hardware are enough. Compare High Country when premium ride quality and a luxurious road-going cabin matter more than keeping the factory lift. Cabin Glance rear-seat interior camera and additional premium driver-information equipment. Available Powertrains & Comfort 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel or the exclusive-to-flagships 6.6L V8 available. Available massaging front seats and upgraded interior finishes. Best Fit Drivers who spend substantial time on pavement and value a refined cabin and premium assistance more than maximum off-road articulation. Why Choose High Country High Country is the road-focused flagship; it is not the next stage of a continuously more aggressive off-road ladder. Real-World Analysis: A Premium Pickup That Makes Daily Miles Feel Different High Country is the luxury-oriented Silverado for owners who need a capable pickup but spend much of their time behind the wheel on pavement. The value is in how consistently its comfort, ride-control and technology features improve ordinary travel. Adaptive Ride Control is designed to manage body motions over changing road surfaces, while the upgraded seating environment, panoramic sunroof and refined materials make long drives and shared trips more inviting. The passenger display creates a separate space for the person alongside you, and the Head-Up Display and Rear Camera Mirror can make driving information and visibility more convenient. These are benefits owners may use every day, not just on a weekend outing. High Country also keeps serious pickup choices on the table, with its standard V8 and available diesel or larger V8 on eligible builds. Standard Super Cruise can reduce hands-on driving on compatible roads when its requirements are met, including driver attention and an eligible service plan. None of this means it inherits the Trail Boss lift or mud-terrain setup: High Country is a distinct, road-refined branch. Decision boundary: Compare ZR2 when locking differentials, large off-road tires and specialized suspension are genuinely necessary. Choose High Country when the truck's defining job is to deliver premium comfort through everyday driving and long-distance travel. Against High Country 4WD ($77,595), the starting gap is $2,400; engines and equipment differ. Step-Up Features Changes From High Country Replaces the road-oriented premium suspension and 22-inch wheel package with purpose-built off-road chassis hardware. Standard engine changes from High Country’s 5.7L V8 to the 3.0L Duramax diesel. Exclusive Off-Road Equipment 35-inch mud-terrain tires, two-inch factory lift and 18-inch wheels. Front and rear electronic locking differentials. Multimatic DSSV dampers with jounce shocks and new Baja drive mode. Front- and rear-facing underbody cameras with wash system. Standard Technology & Cabin Super Cruise with eligible plan, passenger display, Head-Up Display and Rear Camera Mirror. Massaging front seats, Torch Red accents and real forged-carbon-fiber trim. Powertrain & Special Edition 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel standard; 6.6L V8 available. Available ZR2 Bison Edition adds AEV-specific protection and trail equipment. Best Fit Drivers who actually use high-clearance tracks, difficult terrain, locking differentials and specialized damping, rather than those who primarily seek the most luxurious trim. Why Choose ZR2 ZR2 stands apart because its suspension, tire size and locking differentials change what the truck can manage off pavement. Real-World Analysis: Built for Technical Terrain, Not Just the Off-Road Look ZR2 is the specialist of the lineup. Its equipment earns its place when the route calls for careful wheel placement, traction at low speed and controlled suspension movement over rough ground that simpler 4WD setups may struggle with. Electronic front and rear locking differentials help maintain useful drive when opposing wheels have uneven grip. The Multimatic DSSV dampers manage repeated suspension movement, while 35-inch mud-terrain tires and the lift improve the truck's physical capability on demanding tracks. Front- and rear-facing underbody cameras add a practical benefit: better information when approaching obstacles that are difficult to judge from the driver's seat. Those are meaningful tools for repeated technical trail use, not just accessories. ZR2 still delivers premium seating and driver-assistance equipment between trail days, and its standard diesel or available 6.6L V8 gives buyers distinct powertrain options. However, its tall stance, specialized tires and chassis priorities come with everyday compromises. It should not be chosen just because it sits at the top of the price ladder, or confused with the separate configuration that achieves the Silverado's maximum advertised towing figure. Decision boundary: Compare Trail Boss when a factory lift and 34-inch tires cover the trails you actually drive. ZR2 makes sense when you repeatedly need its lockers, 35-inch tires, advanced dampers and additional underbody visibility. LT adds heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and greater engine choice for a more comfortable daily drive. LT vs. Z71 LT suits primarily paved-road driving with 2WD. Z71 brings standard 4WD, underbody protection and hill descent control for more demanding conditions. Z71 vs. Custom Trail Boss Z71 balances daily comfort with practical 4WD capability. Custom Trail Boss adds a factory lift and mud-terrain tires for drivers who regularly venture onto rougher trails. Custom Trail Boss vs. Trail Boss Custom Trail Boss delivers the essential lifted-truck hardware. Trail Boss adds a more refined cabin, upgraded seating and premium audio for everyday enjoyment. Questions After the Shortlist FAQ: 2027 Chevy Silverado 1500 Trim Levels Can I get the Duramax diesel or 6.6L V8 with a Regular Cab or Double Cab? ▼ No. For 2027, the 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel and 6.6L V8 are offered only in eligible Crew Cab configurations. The 6.6L V8 is further limited to High Country and ZR2. If a Regular Cab or Double Cab is essential, compare the available TurboMax and 5.7L V8 configurations instead. Does the 6.6L V8 deliver the Silverado 1500's highest towing rating? ▼ No. The 2027 Silverado 1500 reaches a maximum trailering rating of 13,700 pounds with the properly equipped 5.7L V8, Double Cab, Standard Bed, 2WD and Max Trailering Package. The 6.6L V8 has a different capability focus and a maximum trailering rating of 9,700 pounds in its qualifying configuration. Engine displacement alone does not determine towing capacity. Can Super Cruise be used while towing a trailer? ▼ Yes, on compatible roads with a properly equipped Silverado, an active Super Cruise plan or trial, and a trailer within the system's applicable limits. The driver must remain attentive and ready to take over. Turn-signal-activated and automatic lane changes are not available while trailering, even when Super Cruise is operating. Is the ZR2 Bison Edition a ninth Silverado 1500 trim? ▼ No. Bison is an available specialized edition of the ZR2, not another core trim selection. Its AEV-developed equipment includes distinctive front and rear bumpers, rocker protection, additional underbody protection and beadlock-capable wheels. Check the specific ZR2 build for Bison equipment rather than assuming every ZR2 includes it. Will every trailering camera view work with any trailer? ▼ No. Available camera views depend on the truck's equipment and the trailer. Certain views, including Transparent Trailer View, need compatible equipment, an accessory trailer camera, installation and setup. Confirm the intended trailer and camera package together before counting on a particular view. How do I check the payload capacity of the exact Silverado I want? ▼ Use the vehicle-specific loading information on the driver-side doorjamb and the truck's documentation, rather than applying a lineup-wide maximum to every trim. Cab, bed, drivetrain, engine and added equipment affect capacity. Remember that passengers, bed cargo and trailer tongue weight all use part of the truck's available payload. The useful part is deciding whether those extra inches belong in the cargo box, inside the cab or nowhere at all. At Delta Chevrolet, we compare the published dimensions with what you actually carry, who actually rides with you and where the truck has to fit. Cab, Bed + Exterior Dimensions 2026 Silverado 1500 Dimensions by Configuration Cab and bed choice determine the Silverado's overall footprint. The longest is just over 20.1 feet. Double Cab Standard Bed and Crew Cab Short Bed are especially useful to compare because both measure approximately 231.88 inches overall while allocating that space differently. *Reference heights are representative published figures for the listed core configurations. Height varies with drivetrain, suspension, tires, trim and equipment. Trail Boss, ZR2 and other configurations can be taller. A Better Mental Ruler Put the Silverado Bed Lengths in Real-World Perspective Familiar objects make 69.92, 79.44 and 98.18 inches easier to picture. Each comparison shows how the object's common length relates to the nominal bed floor. Width, thickness, cargo shape, bedliners, accessories, loading position and securement still determine actual fit. Three Beds, Three Priorities What Each Silverado Bed Is Better At Short Bed: Prioritize Passenger Space and a Manageable Footprint The Short Bed is paired with Crew Cab, letting you keep the larger rear seating area while holding overall Crew Cab Short Bed length to about 19.32 feet. Its cargo box still works well for tool cases, coolers, storage totes, luggage, camping gear, lawn tools and bikes. It makes the strongest case when you use the cab constantly and only occasionally need more uninterrupted bed floor. Standard Bed: The Mixed-Use Middle Ground The Standard Bed is available across Regular Cab, Double Cab and Crew Cab configurations. Its 79.44-inch floor is close in length to a common 80-inch interior door or queen mattress, which makes the measurement easier to picture. The additional 9.52 inches over the Short Bed gives you more room to arrange bicycles, long-handled tools, coolers, lawn equipment, storage totes and home-project supplies without moving all the way to the Long Bed. Long Bed: Prioritize Long Material and Maximum Cargo Floor The Long Bed's 98.18-inch floor is slightly longer than a nominal 8-foot board or sheet, giving more floor support beneath lumber, conduit, fencing, trim and other long material. Moving from Standard Bed to Long Bed adds 18.74 inches of nominal floor length. That matters far more when long material goes in the truck regularly than when most of your cargo is compact tools, totes, coolers or cases. Cargo Box Dimensions 2026 Silverado 1500 Bed Width, Height and Volume Bed length changes by configuration, while the published width, wheelhouse opening and box height remain consistent across these core cargo boxes. Bed Length + Volume Cargo Box Width Height + Cab Short Floor 69.92 in Volume 62.9 cu. ft. At floor 71.40 in Wheelhouses 50.63 in Height 22.40 in Cab Crew Standard Floor 79.44 in Volume 71.7 cu. ft. The biggest practical change happens behind the front row, where Crew Cab provides substantially more rear legroom than Double Cab. That difference matters when adults, growing kids, child seats or work crews regularly use the back seat. Use the measurements below to compare the space itself, then the next section puts that difference into everyday context. The 8.16-inch difference between Double Cab and Crew Cab matters differently depending on who occupies the rear seat and how often they use it. Kids + Growing Families Double Cab can make sense when the second row mainly carries younger kids, backpacks, sports gear or occasional passengers. Crew Cab gives you more room to grow into as children get taller and rear-seat use becomes more frequent. Adults + Coworkers An occasional short trip and regular longer drives create different needs. When adults, coworkers, friends or family regularly occupy the rear seat, Crew Cab's additional legroom becomes something they use every trip. Child Seats Rear-facing child restraints use front-to-rear cabin space differently than a passenger's legs. Published legroom alone cannot guarantee fit, so bring the restraint and test it in the actual truck. Crew Cab gives you more cabin depth to work with. Secure In-Cab Storage For many work trucks, the second row carries laptops, jackets, bags and tools more often than people. Double Cab gives you enclosed, weather-protected storage behind the front seats while retaining the Standard Bed outside. Same Overall Length, Different Priorities Double Cab Standard Bed vs. Crew Cab Short Bed Both measure approximately 231.88 inches overall and use a 147-inch wheelbase. You are not choosing a longer truck. You are choosing where Chevrolet puts the space. Double Cab + Standard Bed Give More of the Truck to Cargo Overall length 231.88 in Bed floor 79.44 in Rear legroom 35.24 in You gain 9.52 inches of bed floor. Makes sense when the rear seat is secondary and the cargo box does more of the truck's daily work. Crew Cab + Short Bed Give More of the Truck to People Overall length 231.88 in Bed floor 69.92 in Rear legroom 43.40 in You gain 8.16 inches of rear legroom. Makes sense when adults, taller kids, child-seat passengers or family regularly use the second row. The Dimension You Use Every Day How Much Garage Does a Silverado Need? Silverado 1500 configurations range from approximately 17.58 to 20.12 feet long, but usable garage space matters more than the nominal room size. Crew Cab Standard Bed reaches approximately 20.12 feet overall, while Double Cab Standard Bed and Crew Cab Short Bed are both about 19.32 feet. Regular Cab Standard Bed is the shortest core configuration at about 17.58 feet. A 20-foot garage does not provide 20 feet of comfortable truck space. Bumpers, shelving, cabinets, garage-door movement and enough room to walk around the vehicle all reduce usable depth. Core Silverado configurations also measure slightly more than 81 inches wide without mirrors, so the actual garage-door opening and mirror clearance matter too. Height varies by configuration. Trail Boss and ZR2 models use different tires, suspension and off-road equipment, so verify the exact truck when overhead clearance is close. Use the Inches Where They Matter to You Compare Silverado 1500 Configurations at Delta Chevrolet Another 9.52 inches of bed floor matters when your cargo regularly needs it. Another 8.16 inches of rear legroom matters when your passengers regularly use it. The longest Silverado is not automatically the most useful Silverado—the right configuration puts the space where your work, family, projects and weekends require it. What are the 2026 Silverado 1500 bed lengths? + The Short Bed measures 69.92 inches, the Standard Bed measures 79.44 inches and the Long Bed measures 98.18 inches on the cargo floor. How long is the 2026 Chevy Silverado 1500? + Core configurations range from approximately 210.94 inches for Regular Cab Standard Bed to 241.41 inches for Crew Cab Standard Bed, or roughly 17.58 to 20.12 feet overall. How wide is the Silverado bed between the wheelhousings? + Chevrolet lists approximately 50.63 inches between the wheelhousings and approximately 71.40 inches of cargo-box width at the floor. Which Silverado bed makes the most sense for 8-foot material? + The Long Bed provides the most nominal floor support for 8-foot material because its 98.18-inch floor is slightly longer than 96 inches. The Standard Bed is 16.56 inches shorter than 96 inches and the Short Bed is 26.08 inches shorter. What is the difference between Double Cab Standard Bed and Crew Cab Short Bed? + Both core configurations are approximately 231.88 inches long. Double Cab Standard Bed gives you 9.52 more inches of bed floor, while Crew Cab Short Bed gives rear passengers 8.16 more inches of legroom. The choice is whether more of the same overall truck length should go toward cargo or passengers. Will a Silverado 1500 fit in a 20-foot garage? + It depends on configuration and true usable garage depth. Crew Cab Standard Bed is approximately 20.12 feet long, Crew Cab Short Bed and Double Cab Standard Bed are about 19.32 feet, and Regular Cab Standard Bed is about 17.58 feet. You also need clearance for bumpers, garage-door movement, shelving, walking space, mirrors and accessories. Is Crew Cab worth it for regular rear passengers? + Crew Cab provides 43.40 inches of rear legroom compared with 35.24 inches in Double Cab, a difference of 8.16 inches. That extra space becomes more useful when adults, taller kids or child-seat passengers regularly occupy the second row.
